THERE was cruel luck for Derry camogs at the weekend as they exited the All Ireland Championship - despite recording a resounding win over Carlow.
The Oak Leaf girls defeated their southern visitors 4-15 to 2-11 but it was all in vain as Down's win at Laois meant they finished a point ahead in the group standings.
Down progress to the All Ireland semi-finals along with Cork while Derry are left to reflect on what might have been.
Eoghan Rua's Grainne McGoldrick was the star of the show for the home side, firing 3-3 of her side's total in an impressive individual display.
Meanwhile, an Eddie McCloskey hat-trick of goals ensured Loughgiel Shamrocks continued their recent good form with a thumping win over Portaferry.
