Holders go through in Morrison Trophy

Thursday, 15 February 2018

DUNLUCE, the holders of the Morrison Trophy, are safely through to the next round.
They did not even have to throw a bowl AS their opponents Garvagh and District were unable to field a team and conceded the match.
Second Kilrea continued with their recent good form to knock out St. Mary's.
Nicky McCaw put them in front by beating Harald Kelly (St. Mary's) with a very convincing win.
David Paul (2nd. Kilrea) increased their lead with a three shots win over David Gaile (St. Mary's).
St. Mary's struck back after the break when Kevin McNamee beat Ivan Smyth (2nd. Kilrea), 15 shots to three shots.
This left the game in the balance but Graham Wilson held his nerve against Stephen Ferris (St. Mary's) to win by two shots and see the visitors through to the semi-finals where they will take on holders, Dunluce.
Having lost to Finvoy in their last trip out to Rasharkin, Loughanreagh were not looking forward to this game.
