MOYLE Sports Advisory Committee has announced which of its sportsmen and women will go on to represent the area at the Causeway Coast and Glens Sports Awards in Coleraine on Friday night.
There they will compete for the overall title in their respective category by going up against the heat winners from the other legacy council areas comprising Ballymoney, Coleraine and Limavady.
The Ballycastle heat took place in Thyme and Co Cafe last Thursday night with a total of six awards handed out by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird.
The first of these was the Junior Sports Team which was picked up by the players and coaches of Cross and Passion College's Under 16 Junior Camogie Team. They continued their domination of the Ulster Colleges 'A' Division during the 2016/2017 campaign by becoming champions of the competition for a fifth time. They also reached the final of the All Ireland 'A' Camogie final and narrowly lost to the vastly experienced Loreto of Kilkenny, with a late goal handing the latter the trophy by 3-11 to 2-10. Regardless, it was still another historic season for the Ballycastle school.
