LAST week Dunloy. This week China.

Such is the life of Irish cyclist Nicolas Roche who lines up alongside his BMC Racing team-mates in the inaugural Tour of Guangxi in China on Thursday.

On Saturday, the 33-year-old son of former Tour de France winner Stephen Roche was in north Antrim to take part in Dunloy Cycling Club’s Tour of Legends.

There, he was joined by hundreds of keen amateur cyclists for a charity event which culminated in a question and answer in the local primary school on Saturday evening.

“I’m here today to promote cycling and to promote a great cause as well,” Nicolas told Chronicle Sport.

“It’s a great day and it’s all about awareness and getting people back into sport.

“I’ve been looking forward to cycling through the Dark Hedges as it’s always nice to try out new roads,” he added.

After Dunloy - and Cork the following day - the Irishman flew out to China for the final WorldTour race of the year.
