THE past two weeks have been very busy for Springwell Running Club with members taking part in events on road, trail and mountain over a variety of distances in Budapest, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Belfast, Cookstown, Portglenone, Eglinton and Park Run locations throughout the country.
The Great North Run
On September 10, nine Springwell members were in Newcastle upon Tyne to take part in the biggest half marathon in the world.
With over 53,000 taking part, the race starts in Newcastle and after 13.1 miles of cheering crowds, bands, DJ's and radio station outside broadcasts finishes on the sea front in South Shields.
After a few early morning showers the sky cleared and the sun came out for the start of the race at 10.40am.
The elite athletes were first away and only a few miles from the finish by the time the last of the runners had only just crossed the start line to begin their own challenge.
