Thirds come out top against Armoy thumbnailBallymoney Rugby Club’s Second XV won the George Tees Cup at the annual tournament in Londonderry at the weekend. They got the better of bitter rivals Coleraine in the final (6-0)

BALLYMONEY Third XV got their season off to the perfect start with a four try victory over local rivals Armoy.
First half tries were scored by Matthew Johnston from short range and back row Alfie Clyde who galloped down the wing before he tip toed around the opposition's fullback to put more daylight between the two sides at Kilraughts Road.
These scores came off the back of good continuity and ball security from the home side, as the visitors discipline struggled to hold.
The second half saw another two tries added by the hosts, No.8 John Richmond powering his way over from the base, before a good run from wing Matthew Bell set up Third XV veteran Neil Campbell. Cormac McCartney converted three of the four scores from difficult Angles.
The Toon begin their season this Saturday at home when Instonians will be the visitors.
