Portrush gymnast comes top at UK competition thumbnailSika Gymnastics member Ursula Goode won gold at the British Gymnastics Championship in England to seal the Over 40s title

PORTRUSH mum Ursula Goode has said winning gold on her first appearance at the British Gymnastics Championships has left her hungry for more success.

Her achievement has drawn praise from many within the sport, including representatives from the British Gymnastics’ Northern Ireland Development Squad.

Goode was on course for at least a silver medal before a winning performance on the fourth and final piece of apparatus sealed the Over 40s title in England.

Buoyed by the result, and with the help of her coach Mary Robinson, the Sika Gymnastics member is already planning to return to the competition in 2018.

“I went as a novice to the Gymnastics Championships but I will return next year and compete at intermediate level,” Goode told Chronicle Sport. “I’m already busy training and trying to learn new routines. I hope to compete again before the end of the year; I’m working towards that even though there’s no date yet.
