BALLYCASTLE High pupils celebrated the success of their recent sports day at the school's prize giving ceremony.
The weather was kind for sports day, with the competition fierce across the field and each event keenly contested.
The Colin Hargy House Cup was lifted by Captain Leon McMaster and Vice-Captain Denis Aspritoiu after Glenshesk House scored an impressive 228 points. The winning house outscored both Glentaisie and Glendun by a comfortable margin, with these achieving 197 points and 128 points respectively.
As well as team success, sports day also saw some outstanding individual success. Minor Girls' champion, Ella Price, claimed gold in the 100m, 200m and High Jump. The Minor Boys' champion Kurt Wright came first in the High Jump, the 400m and 800m races. This continued Wright's recent outstanding achievement out on the sports' field.
He also jumped a new record at the recent Bishop's Sport Athletics competition in the High Jump by clearing one metre 45 centimetres and, as a result, has been invited to join the Athletics Northern Ireland Rising Stars Development Squad in October.
The Junior Championship is competed for by Year 9 pupils and it went to Callum Knox and Leah Mooney.
