COLERAINE chairman Colin McKendry claims last season's beaten Irish Cup finalists have been handed a 'tough draw' in the Europa League but admits it is one everyone at the club is looking forward to.
The Bannsiders were paired with Norwegian club FK Haugesund in Monday's first qualifying round with the first leg to take place in Norway next Thursday (June 29).
The second leg will be held at the Showgrounds a week later on Thursday July 6 with Lech Poznan or FK Pelister awaiting the winners in the second qualifying round.
It's the first time in 13 years that the club has been involved in European competition and officials are currently finalising travel plans for players, management and supporters.
“We originally had a charter flight booked but we're now looking at a bigger plane," explained the chairman from Geneva, where he attended the draw.
“The club has people working on arrangements and we'd be hopeful of getting enough people to fill the larger plane while we're also busy looking at accommodation.
“We don't know an awful lot about them but they're a full-time outfit currently ninth in their league with a couple of internationals in their ranks. "It's a tough draw compared to who we might have got and none of the Irish League clubs got a good draw - apart from Linfield!
