ALAN Carmichael says that he must win his local round of the MSA Northern Ireland Rally Championship if he is to pose a threat to Derek McGarrity this season.
Carmichael struggled for form on the first two circuit-based meetings, with a mistake last time out at Bishopscourt ending his hopes of finishing on the podium.
With Kirkistown and Bishopscourt now behind him, the Ballymoney man is looking to get his bid for the drivers' title back on track at the Glens of Antrim Rally. His belief stems from winning August's Ulster National Rally, which he did despite incurring road penalties after arriving late at a time control with Ivor Lamont.
