Over one hundred cars expected for Tarmac classic
Thursday, 13 April 2017
THE Glens of Antrim Rally will revive two of the most iconic stages anywhere in Ireland when the event returns to a closed-road format for the first time in almost a decade.
As in 2008, when the meeting was won by Derek McGarrity and James McKee, Torr Head and Glendun are being used by members of the organising Mid Antrim Motor Club.
They saw action as recently as last year when the two roads were joined together to create a mammoth 19.5-mile 'Glens' test for the opening day of the Circuit of Ireland.
It drew widespread praise from many of the leading international drivers, notably Circuit winner Craig Breen, who described it as the single best strip of Tarmac in the world.
