John Freeman Winter League at Bushfoot Golf Club

Thursday, 16 February 2017

DIVISION Two of Bushfoot Golf Club's John Freeman Winter League produced the bigger scores on Saturday with two 40 point returns topping the list.
David Coyle's card got the nod from the countback system and pushed Patrick Cardwell into second place.
David had a couple of double bogeys early in the opening nine but recovered from those with a nice two on the seventh helping him to get to the turn with 19 points scored.
Over the back nine David, playing off 15, dropped just five shots to par and pulled 21 points for that effort to take the card on to 40 for the round.
Patrick, a 27 handicapper, matched the 19 and 21 scores but an unfortunate 'no score' on the 17th did him no favours in the tie-break and second place it had to be.
Christopher Millen topped the Division One charts with 38 points from his handicap of 11 after another countback process with Harold Love.
Christopher dropped a few shots on his way out but a birdie three on the third allowed him to get 17 points carded for the front nine and he improved on that over the back nine.
Four shots were dropped and Christopher picked up a birdie three on 17 to get another 21 points for his card taking him on to 38.
Harold got his 38 in a slightly different manner with just three shots being dropped after five but a nasty blank appearing on the seventh to limit his points to 17 after nine.
Back to back birdie threes on 12 and 13 gave Harold a sound base for the back nine and he went on to score 21 points for it but just lost out in the tie break to take second place in the division.
