Thursday, 26 January 2017

LOUGHANREAGH took on and beat League leaders Dunluce this week in the North West Indoor Bowling League. The results leaves Loughanreagh only half a point behind Dunluce meaning it is all very much to play for.
Uel McKeeman gave Dunluce an early lead with an eleven shots to seven shots win against Nigel Gamble (Loughanreagh).
Alan Irwin brought Loughanreagh back into the game when he beat Rodney Kane (Dunluce) sixteen shots to six shots.
Back came Dunluce in the form of Barry Kane when he had a win against Ian Ross (Loughanreagh), winning by three shots.
In the final game Alister Kirkpatrict (Dunluce) and Alistair Steele (Loughanreagh) could not be separated on seven shots apiece but Loughanreagh got the overall score to give them the three bonus points.
For two weeks in a row now, St. Mary's have had two very close games but have only four points to show for their effort.
They played 2nd. Kilrea and although the score was thirty seven shots each it was the visitors who went home with the extra point.
In the first game Ivan Smyth (2nd. Kilrea) beat Declan McCann (St. Mary's) by five shots. The second game ended up all square between Sean Doherty and Graham Wilson. David Gaile put St. Mary's ahead by beating Stephan Arbuthnot (2nd. KIlrea) sixteen shots to six but then Nicky McCaw (2nd. Kilrea) got the better of Kevin McNamee (St. Mary's) to give the visitors the overall win.
St. Colman's and the Marian had a real ding dong battle too with a single shot separating them at the end. David Walker (St. Colman's) and Terrence McGarry (Marian) drew eight shots apiece.
