Jim tops in final event for 2016

Thursday, 5 January 2017

A FINE 43 point round from Jim Wilkinson topped the scoring in Bushfoot Golf club's final competition of 2016. The 16 handicapper birdied the short second and dropped just five shots to par over the opening nine holes to turn with 22 points scored.
Jim added to his twos collection with another one on the 16th and, in spite of a closing hole six, he was able to add 20 points back for his winning 43 total.
Des McCormick was the nearest rival with 40 points scored.
He had a steady scoring front nine which gave up 21 points but the inward nine was more of a roller-coaster ride with a birdie two on 11 as the high points and a few 'no scores' as the lows.
In between, Des picked up 19 points to take him on to his final tally of 40.
Both top scores came from Division Two and it was Stevie Glass who sat on top of Division One with 38 points from his mark of 13.
He covered the outward nine holes in level par thanks to a birdie on the short second and birdie threes on the fifth and eight balancing up his three bogeys. Stevie couldn't find any more birdies and logged a brace of blanks in his back nine, resulting in 14 points for the card to take it up to 38.
A 37 point return from Owen Crooks saw him take the second place in the division.
