BALLYCASTLE Tennis Club's Under 14A team will play in the top tier for the first time next season after securing promotion to Division One.
Captained by talented youngster Feargal McKiernan, the four boy team of Gabriel Jones, Nicholas McGowan and Joshua Norris from Coleraine got the better of their opponents in a play-off replay to make the step up to the premier division for the 2016-17 campaign.
The four friends formed a cohesive unit during their latest campaign to produce important victories and a string of impressive performances.
Although much of the focus is currently on Feargal, Joshua, Gabriel and Nicholas, they are the first to admit they could not have done it all without help from head coach Stephen Watters.
He was the one who put them through their paces to try and bring out the very best in them.
Stephen was full of praise for the boys' latest achievement which follows promotion for the Under 14A set-up from Division Four and Division Three.
“Gaining this promotion means everything to the boys as they now have the chance to play against the most talented groups of young tennis players right across the country, helping them improve their player status in singles and doubles events," Stephen explained to Chronicle Sport.
