COLERAINE bodybuilder Lesley-Ann Armstrong says she has not given up on her dream of becoming the first Irish woman to hold an IFBB Pro Card, despite narrowly missing out at the recent IFBB Diamond Cup meeting in England.
Lesley-Ann finished sixth in Liverpool in an event which attracted over 30 of the UK's leading female bodybuilders and admits the experience has only strengthened her resolve.
“Over the past six years I have achieved more than most females will in a lifetime in regards competitive bodybuilding but I still have an IFBB PRO card on my wish list and until I get it I won't feel like I have achieved what I initially set out to," she said.
“I really enjoyed my preparations for the Diamond Cup - moreso than any other - as I had the support of Aaron McGonigle every step of the way.
“He has become my training partner and friend. We throw ideas off each other and come up with the best possible solution to overcome any obstacles. You really do need somebody you can trust and depend on in this sport. I achieved a sixth place in this year's Diamond Cup which means I have missed out on my PRO card but I know what needs to be done to get it next time I step on stage and I'll be ready.
