Ballymoney Ladies Rugby Team are jumping on the New Year's resolution band wagon in preparation for this year's matches in a hope to become rugby fit again, and are offering any other ladies, who may be interested, the chance to come along and train with the team.
The Ballymoney Ladies are an enthusiastic group and are always looking for new recruits to join their ranks.
“We are keen to recruit new and experienced players to strengthen the 1st XV team in our push for promotion to the Women's All Ireland League Division 2 next season, and any girls from between the ages of 13 and 18 for our youth group for future development and continued success of the squad," said a spokesperson for the ladies.
Any Ladies who are interested in playing and trying something a little bit different for 2012 should come along to Ballymoney Rugby Club on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7pm for training sessions.
Women's rugby is arguably one of the fastest growing female sports in the country, with new teams springing up on a regular basis from all around the province. Established annual tournaments such as the Rosie Stewart Cup and the Carrick Ladies Tens as well as the Ulster Ladies Rugby Team's improved efforts in this year's Women's Inter-provincials, have seen the female version of the sport never looking so healthy. This is further demonstrated by the inclusion of six Ulster players in this year's All Ireland Women's squad for the Six Nations Championship, which is due to kick off in February.
