PROTEST PLANNED thumbnailThe footpath on Leyland Road doesn’t reach the junction. A pedestrian can be seen in the distance walking on the dangerous road.

A WHITE line protest is due to take place in the Leyland Road area of Ballycastle this Saturday as locals who have been waiting over TEN years for a footpath, plead for their voices to be heard!
Ballycastle Sinn Féin Cllr Cara Mcshane who has been campaigning for years to have the footpath provision completed at Leyland Road said that people have been left infuriated and now want to take their protest to the streets next Saturday.
Cllr McShane said she would encourage people to come out in protest at what she has described as "the lack of action" by DfI Roads to the ongoing pedestrian safety issues at Leyland Road.
DECADE
Speaking to The Chronicle, Cllr McShane said: "I have correspondence dating back over ten years with the roads department. Each time there has been a Planning application for the site at Leyland Road/Ramoan Road - the roads department have procrastinated and left the provision of a footpath on the main road for the developer.
