Plea to rebuild ‘smallest church in world’ thumbnailRev. Con Auld at the little church at Portbraddan.

THE FORMER owner of the little Church at Portbradden has apologised to all those who have lost the "opportunity to worship in such a beautiful place" after it was demolished in June last year, under new ownership.
Rev J McConnell Auld told The Chronicle he was still receiving letters and calls in relation to the Church, which he restored when he acquired the property in 1962.
Con Auld sold the house and 'the smallest church in the world' two years ago amid failing health and said he had not known the new owner's plans to demolish the church.
In an open letter to The Chronicle, he explained how St Gobbans came in to being and how it even holds a place in the Guinness Book of records.
He writes: "Halfway through last century, a group of boys from Belfast Inst. Came to stay at Whitepark Bay House.
