Brakes pulled on Armoy road races thumbnailSaturday's race at Armoy was abandoned for safety reasons.

ALL roads led OUT of Armoy on Saturday as the tenth anniversary celebrations of the national road race fell victim to torrential rain and races were forced to be cancelled, but Bill Kennedy MBE, Chairman and Clerk of the Course has vowed this setback will not dampen plans for 2019.
Friday night's practices and racing took place to much excitement in the Co.Antrim village, leaving the crowds eager for the nine race programme due to be held the next day.
However, the event, which brings thousands of bikers and racing fans to the area annually had to be abandoned due to horrific weather conditions.
Saturday's cancellation was especially disappointing for fans, as well as locals, after such a well attended packed programme of events which took place throughout the week.
As the weather began to seriously decline, a decision was taken by the stewards officiating and the Clerk of the Course, in addition to senior competitors, to abandon the meeting in the interest of safety.
