A Storm of Shamrocks and Tartan! thumbnailKeltic Storm who will be releasing their new single 'The Shamrock and Tartan' this weekend to raise money for The Simon Community

SINGER songwriter James McGarrity is set to release his latest single 'The Shamrock and Tartan' and all proceeds from the downloads will be donated to The Simon Community in both Ireland and Scotland.
James, who has written songs for Owen Mac, Robert Mizzell and Jimmy Buckley, to name but a few, is a member of well known band, Keltic Storm, and tours throughout the UK.
It was during a recent trip to Newcastle that the sights James witnessed made him realise the massive problems faced by the homeless.
He told The Chronicle: "There were so many young ones fighting in the streets as they all wanted the warmth of the shop doors. When the doors shut for the day there's a bit of shelter and heat in the doorways, it just hit me and it's not right that people live like this.
“We were on our way to perform at the Inverness Festival for St Patrick's Day and I had an idea to write a song, something that would connect Scotland and Ireland, I think we are similar. I sat down and wrote 'The Shamrock and Tartan' in about 30 minutes."
James explained that i can sometimes take him hours, days or months to write a song, but once he started The Shamrock and Tartan, he knew it would flow.
He added: "I had the song finished on time for the Festival on St Patrick's Day and when I sang it we received a very good reaction. Some people in the audience were in tears, it was quite something."
