Man ‘broke into police station’

Thursday, 22 February 2018

A BALLYCASTLE man, who "broke into the town's police station", appeared before magistrates yesterday (Monday).
Finbar O'Connor, of Castle Street, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage and disorderly behaviour on January 6 this year.
North Antrim Magistrates, sitting in Coleraine, heard how the 37-year-old had scaled a wall at the Ramoan Road station during darkness because he believed he was being followed and feared for his safety.
When officers spoke to O'Connor and tried to take him to his nearby home he caused a commotion and shouted abuse, yelling: "Arrest me, you scum."
After kicking out and spitting in the rear of a police vehicle O'Connor was conveyed to Coleraine custody suite. While in the vehicle he exposed himself and urinated in the back seat.
