THE decision to ban grid girls and promotional models from helping at high-profile sports events is an over-reaction and dashing the dreams of hundreds of women who love what they do.
That is the view of one 'grid girl' who started out working at Aghadowey Oval before making the switch to the British Touring Car Championship with Eurotech Racing driver, Matt Simpson.
Paula Currie told The Chronicle that many of her colleagues are avid car and bike enthusiasts, and while some of them are well paid, most are happy to attend events on a voluntary basis.
