THE bill for Ballycastle's new swimming pool could rise by 1 million - unless a new site can be found. The proposed pool and gym complex on Quay Road is the second phase of a 7 million project to bring the town's leisure facilities up to date.
At the January meeting of the Leisure and Development Committee, members were told the site will require road engineering work costing between 700,000 and 1 million, according to Transport NI estimates.
As a result officers are now studying alternative sites, including Sheskburn house, Ramoan Road and Leyland Road.
“When you are facing a bill of nearly a million quid, it seem logical to explore other options," said project manager, Nick Harkness.
