KIND-hearted schoolgirl Roisin Magee will take on the run of her life on Friday November 10 as she chases her dreams across Ballycastle beach to raise money for the NICLT (Northern Ireland Children to Lapland Trust).
Roisin, who attends St Patrick's & St Brigid's PS in Ballycastle, had the experience of a lifetime last year when she was among a number of people picked to travel to Lapland for a day of adventure and to meet Santa Claus - and she wants others' to experience the thrill of it too!
The 10-year-old, who has a mild form of cerebral palsy, idolises Paralympic gold medalist Michael McKillop and has a dream that one day she too will pick up a medal for her running!
In a bid to raise money to help the NICLT and push her own boundaries, Roisin is going to run Ballycastle beach from Pan's Rock after she finishes a day at school!
Roisin's mum, Dympna, said Roisin has a goal of 1,000, with some already raised as kind neighbours and friends have approached them on the street.
Dympna said: "Roisin runs everywhere, she loves running on the beach, but she has a wee limp and it is a struggle for her.
“This run will challenge her, so although she wants to do it to raise money for others' to travel to Lapland, it will cause her some discomfort.
“She had a great experience there last year and she wants other young people who aren't as well as her, to have the experience too.
“It costs a lot of money for the charity to take the children over there and it's a dream from beginning to end. It's not an every day flight, there are doctors, nurses, physios and carers on board the plane, but the excitement never stops.
