A GERMAN football fan has contacted the Chronicle with an appeal to help him track down a Bushmills man he met last June prior to a European Championship match between Northern Ireland and Germany.
Mr Werner Brandt, of Bremervörde, Lower Saxony, was in Paris on June 21st near the 'Parc de Prince' stadium when he got chatting to a Northern Ireland fan in the Parisian sunshine.
Werner told The Chronicle: "It was a very hot day, there were crowds of people and I could see the man needed a sit down. I am sure he was in his 60's, as I am, and I asked him if he wanted to share the bench with me.
“We talked so much, we had a great time, but I never even got his name! He said he lived in the Bushmills area and we chatted a little bit about the distillery, of course.
“It was warm and we were happy to have shade under the trees. On the other side of the road were pubs with singing supporters of both teams and the atmosphere was buzzing.
“We joked, I said Germany would win, he said Northern Ireland would win - turns out I was correct, the final score was Germany - 1, Northern Ireland - 0..."
