Unique support at SOLAS

Thursday, 24 August 2017

A BRAND new innovative programme which will support the emotional needs of those living with a cancer diagnosis is to launch next month in Ballycastle.
The Emotional Impact of Cancer (EIC) programme will be implemented by SOLAS and will enable experienced volunteers to support families where individuals are dealing with a cancer diagnosis or caring for someone who is.
Although a lot of services exist for people affected by cancer, this new programme will allow people to access benefits for their health closer to home.
Stephanie Elder, Development Officer for SOLAS Moyle told The Chronicle: "A lot of people who are affected by cancer are often fatigued and lack the desire to travel far beyond their own town to access treatments. With this funding we're able to offer relaxation sessions, restorative yoga, reflexology, gentle massage, BACH Flower remedies and counselling as well as a dedicated time for drop-in sessions.
