A COUNCIL decision to share the costs of school sports facilities so they can be used by the general public has been hailed as “a model of community planning.”

The £2.3m rate-payer contribution will pay for upgrades that allow the wider community to use a sports hall and pitches at the brand new campus shared between Cross and Passion College and Ballycastle High School.

Details of the deal were revealed at the August meeting of Causeway Coast and Glens Leisure and Development Committee last Tuesday, though the idea has long been in the pipeline.
