A RASHARKIN man has raised almost 4,000 for Guide Dogs NI by completing a 50-mile sponsored walk around the Glens of Antrim.
Brian Doherty, who was registered blind ten years ago, wanted to raise money for the charity after realising that one day he would need a guide dog himself.
He said: "Ten years ago I was registered blind. I have 10% vision, with gradual deterioration and realised that the day would come when I would benefit from a guide dog.
“I have always kept active by going on walks and so on. Two years ago, I said to my family that I would like to raise money for guide dogs and my daughter suggested we arrange a sponsored walk. We have been doing this for the past two years and it is growing in popularity year on year.
