A BALLYCASTLE woman has vowed to be "more than just a statistic" following her breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
Speaking after her final round of chemotherapy, feisty Dee McGinty told the Chronicle: "There has to be a purpose for what I and my family have been through. The last few months cannot have been for nothing." Reflecting on the past few months, 44-year-old Dee recalled how she had no indication at all that she had cancer and how she and the family's world fell apart in her consultant's office.
Dee, who is married to Kevin and is mother to six beautiful children, said: "My cancer wasn't diagnosed through a mammogram as you might expect. I had a sore shoulder for a while. I complained a wee bit about it but really thought nothing of it. I had loved running so pushed myself even harder to see if it would ease the pain.
