Display planned for Lammas Fair slammed as ‘waste of money’ thumbnailA fireworks display, a new addition to this year’s Lammas Fair celebrations, has caused division among residents of the seaside town, with some welcoming the event and others slamming it as ‘unimaginative’

PLANS for a 'spectacular' fireworks display at the seafront in Ballycastle to mark the beginning of this year's Auld Lammas Fair have been met with mixed reaction by those that live in the seaside town.
As the two-day attraction was announced last week, members of the public took to social media to voice their disappointment over what they labelled as Council's "lack of imagination."
One woman who has lived in Ballycastle all her life said a fireworks display at Halloween was enough for the town, suggesting Council could "come up with something a bit more original and Lammas Fair related." Another woman slammed the display as a "waste of ratepayers money." Further questions were also raised as to the cost of the display, due to be held on Sunday August 27.
