A BALLYCASTLE woman has spoken out after she received a bogus call purporting to be from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) warning her to phone a number or face "dire monetary consequences."
Margaret, who is 73-years-old, said she was contacted by a man around lunch time on July 13, claiming to be calling from HMRC.
She told The Chronicle: "I had filled in a form the week before and sent it off to HMRC, so I initially thought it was them contacting me about that. He repeated that twice, that I would face dire monetary consequences."
The man, who Margaret now thinks could very well have been a recording, didn't give a name.
