Cushendall father and son named BHF Heart Heroes thumbnail

An inspiring father and son from Cushendall have been named Heart Heroes by British Heart Foundation Northern Ireland (BHF NI) at a special awards ceremony held in Belfast City Hall recently.
The charity's annual Heart Hero Awards recognise the exceptional contribution people make to fighting heart disease.
Hugh and Neil McManus were joint winners in the Inspiration category for their efforts to raise awareness of CPR.
In autumn 2015, Hugh suffered a cardiac arrest at his home. While waiting for the ambulance, a volunteer with the local community first responder scheme arrived and performed CPR and defibrillation on Hugh before he was taken to hospital. It was these quick actions that saved Hugh's life.
