SATURDAY July 29 will see a 'Big Day Out' on Ballycastle seafront, all in aid of two charities which have been supporting local woman Katrina Turner through her recent illness.
Speaking to The Chronicle, Katrina said she was raising funds for Friends of the Cancer Centre, Belfast, and Action Cancer, as well as aiming to raise cancer awareness and promote self checking amongst both women and men.
She added: "The Action Cancer Big Bus will be in the Marina carpark performing breast screenings for women aged 40-49 and 70+ and health checks for both men and women aged 16+. All of these appointments have been pre-booked and all available slots have been filled which is simply amazing as I really want this to be a health promotion opportunity as well as a fun day for all the family.
"In addition to the Big Bus, there will be an artisan market with a number of art, craft and food stalls, live music throughout the day, bouncy castle, hot food and a cake sale, all proceeds of which will go to the charities. This will all kick off at 11am and finish up at 4/5pm. Then we'll be taking a couple of hours to set up the evening entertainment which will be a live music gig in the marquee from 7pm-10:30pm featuring the fantastic musical talents of some friends of mine!"
