THE Event Director of one of the province's biggest sporting spectaculars says he will make a decision about his future by the end of the summer.
Mervyn Whyte was speaking just days after it was announced he is to receive the Freedom of the Borough by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in recognition of his involvement with the Vauxhall International North West 200.
He follows Coleraine's Olympic Games medal winning rowers Alan Campbell and brothers Peter and Richard Chambers who are set to be similarly honoured this autumn.
“It's a great honour and great privilege and I'm really pleased to receive this honour," said Whyte, who was reported to be considering his position following this year's races.
“But it's not just for me - it's for the entire team. I have 800 people working with me and this award is for them at the end of the day.
“Of course, every organisation has to have someone at the head of the organisation but unless you have all these guys behind you it's not going to happen. For the councillors to give me this backing is a big plus as I believe it was fairly unanimous and that gives you a bit of heart.
