Dark Hedges public inquiry? thumbnailThe iconic Dark Hedges in their glory days. MC22-19S

THE long-running saga over safeguarding the iconic Dark Hedges from traffic damage could be decided by a public inquiry.
Causeway Coast and Glens Councillors have been told that a public inquiry might be the only way forward after four objections were received to Transport NI's proposals to ban vehicles at the major tourist attraction.
The latest twist came after Councillor Joan Baird pressed the Department for Infrastructure's Divisional Roads Manager Deidre Mackle for an update. UUP Councillor Baird asked: "What progress is being made in relation to the Dark Hedges? This is an urgent matter; we are not going to have any Dark Hedges left if we wait another year. What are you doing about the traffic situation there?"
