Reporterís novel adventure thumbnailAuthor Claire Savage on the eve of her debut novelís publication

A LOCAL journalist, who began writing fiction in her spare time, will see her first novel launched at the prestigious Belfast Book Festival next month.
Claire Savage spent five years as a reporter at the Chronicle, before setting herself up as a freelance journalist and copywriter.
She began her novel 'Magical Masquerade' while still at the newspaper, working at night and during weekends. But only in the last year has she found time to complete and publish the book.
Billed as a fantasy adventure story for children aged from nine to 12-years-old, the story is set on the modern day North Coast, but inspired by local myths and folklore.
Hero Felicity Stone finds herself whisked off to a shadowy world that mirrors her own but is inhabited by fairies, hobgoblins and mysterious smugglers.
Originally from Magherafelt, Claire has lived and worked around Coleraine for the last 10 years.
