IT'S a Portrush institution present in the town longer than any golf club, department store or amusement arcade.
And while the bright orange lifeboat is a visible symbol of the RNLI's courageous sea-going volunteers, behind the scenes lies a support network, handling the more mundane but equally essential tasks like training, administration, maintenance and co-ordination with other emergency services.
At the head of this operation for the last 10 years has been Robin Cardwell.
Next month Robin retires, bringing to a close almost 30 years of service with the RNLI.
