On the road to recovery thumbnailLiam McCallum, the schoolboy knocked down and seriously injured in a road traffic accident in Liscolman in January, continues to make slow but steady progress in Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital.

THE family of a Bushmills schoolboy who suffered severe brain injuries in a road traffic accident earlier this year say they have been overwhelmed by the support they have received from the local community.
Ten-year-old Liam McCallum was left in a coma after being struck by a car outside the family home in Liscolman back in January and has since undergone a series of operations in Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital.
The Straidbilly Primary School pupil has astounded medical staff with his rate of recovery and, while it may be another nine months before he is allowed home for good, his family hopes he may be allowed out temporarily in the coming months.
