Fearing for their future thumbnailStaff at the Bushmills Education Centre fear that closure is inevitable.

STAFF based at Bushmills Education Centre are consigned to the fact its doors will close by next August, it has been claimed. Meetings are scheduled to take place today (Tuesday) between centre workers and representatives from the Education Authority.
It follows a review by the North Eastern Education and Library Board which aims to ensure effective use of youth service resources.
The review started in November 2014 with the recommendations for moving forward shown to the trade union organisation NIPSA earlier this year. An official report followed with this outlining how the body planned to reduce the number of large catered centres.
A twelve-week public consultation begins on Monday with the Education Board seeking the thoughts of schools, parents and pupils.
The thought of mothballing Bushmills Education Centre has led to 'anger, disappointment and bemusement' among staff that work there according to one employee The Chronicle spoke to. Wishing to remain anonymous, he claimed the facility was 'being run down'.
