Looking forward

Tourism will play a key role in the work of Ballycastle's Chamber of Commerce in 2012.
This was the view of the Chamber's outgoing Chairperson Paul Cochrane, who is preparing to step down after three years at the helm of the traders' group.
Since its inception, businesses in the town have faced some of the toughest trading conditions in years but the chamber and business owners, together with Moyle District Council, have been working hard to retain and improve the vibrancy of the town.
Reflecting on events in 2011, Paul said: "It has been a hard year for business, especially small businesses, due to the on-going economic situation.
“But the Chamber has been putting a lot of effort into building up relationships with the tourist board and Executive Ministers as well as strengthening our co-operation with Moyle District Council.
“A buyer for The Marine Hotel would help everyone in the town and with the seafront renovations along with other different projects, things are improving.
“The Chamber is looking forward to another year of positive action, with everyone working together."

He said 2011 ended on a high for the town, with the annual outdoor carol service and Christmas light switch-on coupled with a special television festive broadcast from the grounds of Holy Trinity Church which received great acclaim.
